I always love helping clients live the life they want and am passionate about looking after the interests of investors.
After 30 years of creating, building and managing businesses, as well as providing financial and business advice, I created my own business - Gary Lucas Financial Advice. Consistent with my approach of helping clients live the life they want, I thought I should do the same for myself. I love work and want to continue working in some form for as long as I can.
I’m passionate about providing Financial Planning services to my clients in Byron Bay and beyond.
I do my best work helping people who are inside 10 years prior to their retirement and those that have retired. The way I measure my success is by seeing clients live the life the want, by having choices about how, when & where they work. By managing the ups and downs that life and financial markets bring with minimal stress and ideally none at all. My advice will be tailored for you, practical and sometimes it may not be what you want to hear, but rest assured it will always be in line with your best interests in order to help you live life how you want each day.
I have helped hundreds of clients, including those in New South Wales and the Gold Coast, safely and effectively plan for and enjoy their retirement.
I will help you make decisions and guide you through the challenges and changes that arise personally and externally - in the financial markets, economies and the changes to various laws. After decades in the industry, I know that each client is different and advice and services need to be tailored to each person individually and delivered in a way that suits them best.
I also know the finance industry can be difficult to navigate for clients who can feel powerless against the larger financial organisations who don’t always have their best interests at heart. I am passionate about changing this for my clients. My approach is to continue to be completely transparent, providing you with the sense of trust and understanding of the whole picture, that clients have come to expect from me.
Also, having the highly skilled and dedicated colleague Simone Belcher as part of my team, we have established a flexible approach to servicing your needs. With a smaller, more select client base we will have more time to dedicate to you, with more frequent in-person and as-required remote contact. Simone and I will be able to log-on and connect with you whenever you need and wherever you are. Whilst I will travel, sometimes overseas, I am happy to combine my work and personal life. My highest work ethic remains and with the greater flexibility, I will have a virtual office, with my finger on the pulse anywhere. I can now more easily switch off when I am at the beach, on my bike or spending time with my wife Gabrielle.
As I said, providing you with the advice to live your ideal life is truly my life’s work and I love it, so I see this change as enabling me to work for longer, by working a little less than I was in the past. Something that I actively support and encourage my clients to do where possible and it interests them.
I have always operated with an open door policy and this will continue. There is no limit on the amount of contact we have. In fact I would rather you contact me than feel you can’t and end up making a decision that creates problems or needs to be unwound. Don’t hesitate to contact me.

Simone joined DMG Financial Planning as an experienced leader with and a strong knowledge of financial planning.
She can manage all of your paperwork and administrative needs accurately and effectively.
Upon the establishment of Clearwater Portfolio Management Pty Ltd in January 2016, Simone joined Gary as the DMG Diversified Portfolio Administrative Manager and together they oversee the management of the Portfolio and coordinate all of the parties that are needed to to make the portfolio successful for investors.
Her qualifications include a Certificate III and IV in Business Administration as well as a Diploma of Business.
In her spare time, Simone enjoys outdoor activities such as camping in the bush, tennis, swimming, horse riding and spending time with family and friends.
